The Ugandan health ministry released a report that said since 1982 around 838,000 Ugandans have died from AIDs. 754,200 were adults, 83,800 were children under the age of 12. 411,382 of the adults were women. The health ministry estimates that 1,438,000 people in Uganda (seven percent the population) are currently HIV positive. In 1999 112,000 new AIDs cases were diagnosed.
