In Chechnya, fourteen Russian soldiers died during several engagements with rebels.  Russias loss rate in Chechnya, even at the higher rate claimed by critics of the war, are much lower than anything the Russians have experienced in their 20th century wars. There is not a lot of public uproar against the war. At least not yet.
