The rebel truce appears to be holding. The rebels said they would stop fighting for an annual ten day (October 2-10) Hindu festival. The rebels have not offered to resume peace talks. The army announced that 300 rebels and 29 soldiers have died since the rebels ended the ceasefire in August. 

While the communist rebels are fighting with guns, the opposition is split between royalists (supporting the king) and several political parties who want to take more political power from the king. Meanwhile, the economy is a mess and unrest grows.
