At least 15 people were killed when troops and Maoist rebels fought in Bhojpur, about 225 kilometers west of the capital. Security forces and rebels have also been battling since the 12th in Accham, about 200 kilometers west of Kathmandu. Heavy casualties were feared in the clash but there were no death toll figures. A cold snap has swept over the area and killed at least 23 people across the nation. Temperatures have dipped to between 43 and 38 Fahrenheit throughout much of the region, which surely has affected operations for both sides. - Adam Geibel

Rebels raided a high school 400 kilometers west of the capital and kidnapped 80 students. The rebels increasingly obtain fighters by taking teenagers and turning them into fighters.
