MPIGO rebels claimed that the army pounded the western town of Danane with two Mi-24 "Hind" gunships, killing 35 to 40 civilians and destroying six trucks. Danane is a key base for the insurgents and the gunships piloted by experienced mercenaries are the most potent weapon in the loyalist arsenal. - Adam Geibel
