Despite the posturing and threats passing between China and Taiwan, direct airliner flights between China and Taiwan began today. These flights have been forbidden for 55 years. Previously, airliners have had to stop in a third country before completing flights between China and Taiwan. Economic relations continue to grow closer, even as the Chinese government persists in its threats to invade Taiwan.
