  In the south, near the Pakistan border, Taliban gunmen fired on a government patrol. Four Taliban were killed and two more later arrested.

Ukraine reported that since October 9, 2001, 3,848 US Air Force aircraft have flown through Ukraine on their way to support operations in Afghanistan. In addition, 139 German air force aircraft also took that route.
