Since 1990, some 64 percent of American reservists (including National Guard) have been called to active duty at least once. About four percent have been mobilized two or more time and one percent have been called up three or more times. There have been seven major mobilizations since 1990. There about 800,000 troops in the reserve and National Guard. American Reserve and National Guard troops on active duty as of October 8th total 166,046. It has been steadily declining over the Summer, and the decline in the past week is 3,233. Most (76 percent, or 126,498) are in the army. While many are being sent back to civilian life, more reservists are being called to active service.
