November 13, 2006: The U.S. Air Force wants the U.S. Army to pay, as in cash money, for some of the services U.S. Air Force personnel provide in Iraq. Because the U.S. Army was doing most of the fighting, and everything else, in Iraq, the air force and navy pitched in to provide combat support personnel on the ground. This took some of the pressure off army personnel, and was much appreciated. But some air force generals have noticed that it is costing the air force millions of dollars in training (for unique army missions, like convoy protection) and personnel (to pay the air force people in Iraq) costs. The air force would like to see the army pick up some of these costs, out of the army budget. The army says it is willing to discuss the issue.
