The US Air Force has issued a $30 million contract for 17 new ALQ-135 Band-1.5 electronic countermeasures subsystems (i.e., jammers) for use by F-15E Strike Eagle interdiction strike fighters. These have previously used only Band-3 jammers. Single-seat F-15s use either Band-1 or Band-2 jammers, and the new Band-1.5 jammer is intended to combine both systems.--Stephen V Cole
