More than 70% of Americans think that the country has an effective defense against anti-ballistic missiles. Most of those believe that this defense is founded on the Patriot anti-aircraft missile, which has some capabilities against short-range weapons such as the Scud, which travel only a few hundred miles and (because of the short flight) come down at relatively slower speeds.--Stephen V Cole
